Ukrainian soldiers used a robot (UGV Ratel S ‘Honey badger’) to collapse a Russian bridge
On January 27, 2024, a Ukrainian soldier used a robot to destroy a bridge in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine. The soldier, who has not been identified, was seen in a video released by the Ukrainian military remotely controlling the robot as it drove up to the bridge and detonated a bomb. The explosion caused the bridge to collapse, cutting off a key supply route for Russian forces.

The video of the attack quickly went viral, and it was seen as a sign of the growing use of robots in warfare. Robots are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and they can be used for a variety of tasks, including reconnaissance, surveillance, and even combat.
In the case of the Ukrainian soldier, the robot was used to destroy a bridge. Bridges are critical infrastructure, and they can be used to move troops and supplies. By destroying the bridge, the Ukrainian soldier was able to slow down the advance of Russian forces.
The use of robots in warfare is raising a number of ethical concerns. Some people argue that it is wrong to use robots to kill people, while others argue that robots can be used to reduce the risk of casualties among human soldiers.
Regardless of the ethical concerns, the use of robots in warfare is likely to continue to grow in the years to come. As robots become more sophisticated, they will become even more capable of carrying out dangerous and difficult tasks.
